Our guides are general information
HomeHeatAdvisor publishes general information about heat pumps, heating and cooling systems, energy costs and incentive programs. It is not professional, engineering, legal, tax or financial advice, and it can’t account for the details of your home, your equipment or your situation.
- Installation and repairs. Work on heating and cooling systems can involve high-voltage electricity, refrigerant, gas lines and combustion. Much of it requires a licensed contractor, permits or certification, and incorrect work can cause injury, property damage or void your warranty. Follow your equipment manual, turn off power before any inspection, and hire a qualified professional for anything beyond basic owner maintenance.
- Costs. Price ranges and running-cost estimates are based on the sources and assumptions stated in each guide. Your actual cost will depend on your home, your location, your installer and current prices. Get written quotes before making a decision.
- Rebates and tax credits. Incentive programs change often, can run out of funding, and have their own eligibility rules. Confirm the current terms with the program administrator, your utility or the IRS, and ask a tax professional before relying on a credit.
